Recognise patterns from 1 to 5

A writing and drawing activity to practise recognising patterns within 5. In this appealing task, students colour different pictures of 5 apples in different ways to show groupings within 5, then write the total of each grouping. The pictures in this activity could also be used as a basis for writing equations as an extension exercise.
